Heidi Mather BSc(H) Ac, R.Ac, R.TCM.P, RHN
Registered Acupuncturist, Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbalist (TCM) and Nutritionist
Heidi has a triple licence as an Acupuncturist, TCM Herbalist and Nutritionist. She has been in practice since 2010 after graduating from the University of Portsmouth (UK) with a first class BSc Honours degree in Acupuncture. She spent the first 5 years of practice working at a GP Surgery in the UK treating pain. She found it so affective that she underwent extensive training in the use of guasha, cupping, moxibustion and electro-acupuncture to enhance her acupuncture treatments for pain relief.
As pain is often a component of chronic health conditions, she became interested in the role that diet could play as a means to address the underlying condition, whilst using acupuncture for symptom relief. Heidi trained as a Nutritional Therapist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London (UK), and received the award for Clinical Excellence upon graduation in 2014. She uses her knowledge of nutrition from an Eastern & Western perspective, and offers dietary counselling, advice regarding supplementation and Food Sensitivity Testing for her clients, if appropriate.
After moving to Bowen Island with her family in 2015, Heidi decided to study Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, and was awarded her provincial license as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner (TCM.P) in 2021. The addition of herbal medicine to her treatments has enabled Heidi to make personalized medicine tailored to the unique and changing needs of her clients. She uses high quality concentrated herbal granules to be taken daily with hot water.
In early 2025 Heidi will conclude a 2 year Clinical Integration training with world renowned teacher Lonny Jarrett (USA) on the use of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Pulse Diagnosis to deepen her practice, and is simultaneously on track to complete her Doctor of TCM program at the Tzu Chi International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver.
